Gettysburg Hospital and WellSpan Health Break Ground on WellSpan Adams Health Center

Gettysburg Hospital and WellSpan Health broke ground on September 21, 2006 on the construction of the WellSpan Adams Health Center. When it opens in December 2007, the health center will offer the people of Adams County and northern Maryland convenient access to advanced specialty care.

WellSpan Adams Health Center will be home to a comprehensive cancer center, advanced diagnostic imaging, physical rehabilitation services, laboratory services, behavioral health services, neurology, endocrinology and rheumatology services, and a retail pharmacy.

"WellSpan Adams Health Center demonstrates WellSpan Health and Gettysburg Hospital's commitment to making quality health care available and convenient for the people of Adams County and northern Maryland," said Kevin Mosser, M.D., president of Gettysburg Hospital and senior vice president of WellSpan Health.

"Building this health center is part of our vision and commitment to provide quality health care in the communities where people have easy access to services."

WellSpan Adams Health Center will be conveniently located near the intersection of routes 30 and 15, within the Adams Commerce Center. The location will provide people from all points of Adams County with a central location for specialty outpatient services.

"We believe this center will play an important role in serving our communities as they continue to grow and the need for quality health care services increases," Mosser said.

In addition to housing the various specialty services, WellSpan Adams Health Center is being built around a patient first philosophy. During the project's development, WellSpan asked members of the community to identify their needs. The new health center will incorporate specific features and functions that were supported by feedback from residents of Adams County.

"We have worked from the beginning stages of this project to ensure that the WellSpan Adams Health Center meets the needs and expectations of our patients," Mosser said.

WellSpan Adams Health Center is scheduled to open in December 2007. Richard Poole, LLC of York, Pa., will complete construction of the health center. The center's architect is Wilmot Sanz of Gaithersburg, Md. The project will cost an estimated $28 million.
